Founded by Joey DiLodovico and Darren Helwig over 23 years ago, Bayside Fire Protection has evolved to become a premier fire life safety design, installation, and services provider for the greater DC Metro region. Along with their ongoing leadership, here is the team that makes our excellence possible:

Keith Helwig

Vice President

With more than 20 years of experience, Keith provides executive leadership of Bayside Fire’s construction operations. Keith’s daily tasks include management of the company’s preconstruction, estimating, business development, and contract negotiation efforts. He leads and empowers Bayside Fire personnel to deliver successful projects varying from high-rise office, warehouse, educational facilities, hotel/condo buildings, as well as single family homes/townhomes. His construction knowledge and passionate approach help the company offer well-organized methods and teams, providing a first-class experience to our customers.

Keith is a NCCER Certified Instructor for Core & AFSA Fire Sprinkler Fitting Apprenticeship Training. In his off-time he enjoys spending time with his wife and two girls, family/friends, as well as coaching youth travel fastpitch softball.

Ott Mullins

NICET IV Designer
Ott has been working in the fire life safety industry for over 30 years, with over 20 years specifically performing sprinkler system design and project management. As a NICET Level IV Designer, his day-to-day responsibilities include design of sprinkler systems, including submittal drawings and calculations, 3D BIM modeling and coordination, field surveys and fabricated material listing. Additional tasks include project management as well as working with the estimating department to develop change orders and reviewing ASIs/RFPs.

Dave Smith

Project Executive
Dave operates as a Project Executive for Bayside Fire participating in business development, project management, and over sees a sizable portion of Bayside Fire’s new construction sales. He started in the field 42 years ago as a pipe fitter and has worked his way up through the ranks to his current position as Project Executive. While his core responsibility is dedicated to creating new work, he is constant in his efforts to share his knowledge and passion for the fire protection industry with employees and customers alike.

Andrew Carmichael

Commercial Superintendent
Andrew Carmichael avidly works to build and complete successful projects through leadership. With over 13 years of experience in fire protection, Andrew enthusiastically leads our new construction field team. He focuses his attention on mentorship, training, quality control, logistics, scheduling, coordination, and customer service. In his off hours, Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and children.

Heather Bean

Residential Construction Manager
Heather has been with Bayside Fire for over ten years. While starting at Bayside as an Administrative Assistant, she simultaneously pursued and completed her education in the fire life safety field. Heather then became a Design Engineer and most recently took on the role of Residential Construction Manager. Heather takes pride in building lasting relationships with our customers and exemplifies a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Matt Schiavone

Service Department Manager
Matthew comes to Bayside with over 15 years of sales experience, 10 years construction industry experience (7 in fire life safety specifically), and a track record of positive influence/course correction for his associated departments and businesses. Matt is passionate about meeting and exceeding customer expectations and will do whatever it takes to start, salvage, and maintain customer relations. He firmly believes that sales growth is directly correlated to successfully conveying value to the customer, via honesty and education.

Kelli Harbin

Human Resources/Accounting
Kelli has been with Bayside Fire since 2005 and has over 20 years of experience working in the construction industry. Kelli’s responsibilities include managing the Accounting Department, financial reporting, pre-qualifications, auditing, various treasury functions, commercial insurance, human resources as well as employee benefits. She takes pride in her integrity, persistence, and accountability. Kelli loves being part of Bayside Fire and experiencing the growth, success, and relationships that developed with our team and the customers we serve.
